Violence Prevention Policy


1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment by preventing and addressing all forms of violence within the university community.

2. Policy Statement
European University of Lefke has zero tolerance for violence, including physical, verbal, psychological, and sexual violence, harassment, intimidation, bullying, or threats of harm. We are committed to preventing violence and responding promptly, fairly, and effectively to incidents that occur.

3. Scope
This policy applies to all students, academic and administrative staff, contractors, and visitors, on university property and during university-related activities, including online spaces.

4. Definitions
• Violence: Any act or threat that causes or could cause physical or emotional harm.
• Harassment and Bullying: Repeated, unwanted behavior that offends, humiliates, or intimidates.
• Sexual Violence: Any non-consensual sexual act or behavior.

5. Responsibilities
• University Leadership: Ensure appropriate resources, policies, and procedures are in place.
• Supervisors and Faculty: Promote safe practices and respond to concerns appropriately.
• All Members: Report concerns, intervene safely when possible, and uphold respectful conduct.

6. Reporting and Support
Incidents can be reported confidentially to the Security Office, Dean of Students. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly, in line with the university’s disciplinary procedures. Support services are available for those affected.
