The Office for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the European University of Lefke is a central institutional body that supports the university’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and social responsibility. OEDI ensures that equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles are systematically integrated into decision-making processes, institutional policies, and strategic planning.
OEDI operates with a multidisciplinary structure, bringing together academic and administrative expertise to promote fair, ethical, and inclusive practices across all university functions. It contributes to a governance framework that values participation, accountability, and respect for human rights.
Governance Role and Key Functions
- Policy Development and Oversight
Develops and reviews EDI-related policies in alignment with international standards, ensuring their effective implementation across the institution. - Monitoring, Reporting, and Accountability
Establishes measurable indicators, monitors institutional performance, and publishes regular reports to ensure transparency and continuous improvement. - Inclusive Decision-Making
Promotes stakeholder engagement by involving students, staff, and underrepresented groups in consultation and decision-making processes. - Advisory and Compliance Role
Advises university leadership on EDI matters and ensures compliance with national and international equality frameworks. - Risk Management and Ethical Standards
Identifies and addresses risks related to discrimination, inequality, and exclusion, contributing to a fair and ethical institutional environment. - Training and Capacity Building
Organizes workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns for students and staff on topics such as unconscious bias, inclusive teaching, and cultural competence, as wekk as orientation programs for fresman students, strengthening institutional awareness and competencies in EDI,
Commitment to Sustainable Governance
OEDI plays a key role in embedding EDI within the university’s sustainability agenda by:
- Supporting transparent governance structures

- Promoting equitable access and participation
- Enhancing data-driven decision-making
