What is SDG 1?
Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1) is dedicated to ending poverty in all its forms everywhere. The United Nations aims to eradicate extreme poverty, reduce the proportion of people living in poverty, and ensure equal access to resources and services for all.
The United Nations’ Objectives
The United Nations envisions a world where everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to live a dignified life without facing extreme poverty. SDG 1 seeks to address the root causes of poverty, including social, economic, and environmental factors, and aims to ensure that no one is left behind..
European University of Lefke’s Commitment
European University of Lefke (EUL) supports and promotes the principles of SDG 1 – No poverty, through teaching, research, community engagement, and institutional practices to end poverty. EUL offers the educational opportunity for students to acquire the knowledge and skills to address poverty and conduct research focused on poverty reductions, that provides solutions to SDG 1 challenges. EUL academic community works towards implementing various engagement programs where students, faculty, and staff contribute to poverty alleviation efforts.
