What is SDG 14?
Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14) is dedicated to conserving and sustainably using the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development. The United Nations aims to prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution, protect marine ecosystems, and regulate overfishing.
The United Nations’ Objectives
The United Nations envisions a world where oceans and marine life are protected, and their resources are used sustainably to support both present and future generations. SDG 14 addresses the need for immediate and concerted actions to preserve marine biodiversity, reduce pollution, and promote sustainable practices for the well-being of our oceans.
European University of Lefke’s Commitment
European University of Lefke (EUL) supports and promotes the principles of SDG 14 – Life Below Water, by advancing research, promoting sustainable marine practices, and educating future generations about the importance of oceans and marine ecosystems. Through academic programs, campus operations, and community engagement, EUL assists to drive the global effort to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources.
